Getting a Library Card
In order to get a library card while branches are closed, students over the age of 13 or parents of students below the age of 13, can register for a library card using SimplyE, the Library’s free e-reader app that makes it easier than ever to borrow eBooks.
Please note that after registering, it may take a few hours to receive your barcode in order to access the Library’s digital resources.

**Make sure location services are enabled on your device**
1. Tap on the three lines in the upper left corner and go to Settings, then Accounts.
2. Tap the plus sign in the upper right corner and add The New York Public Library. At the bottom of the screen, it reads: “Don't have a library card? Sign Up!” Tap on Sign Up
3. Confirm you are 13 or older and agree to have it access your location. This is necessary to determine if you are in New York.
4. Fill in your home address, full name, and email address
5. Create a username and PIN.

2. In the middle of the screen, it reads: “Don't have a library card? Sign Up!” Tap on Sign Up.
3. Confirm you are 13 or older and agree to have it access your location. This is necessary to determine if you are in New York.
4. Fill in your home address, full name, and email address.
5. Create a username and PIN.
